We appreciate your patience and support during the challenging times we’ve recently faced. As you may know, MurAll was targeted in a sophisticated hack that affected our bridging to Polygon. This incident was a significant setback, and we understand the frustration and concern it has caused. Today, we want to share with you the steps we’ve taken and our plans moving forward to ensure the security and prosperity of the MurAll ecosystem.

The MurAll team has been diligently working to address the repercussions of the hack. This process has been time-consuming and involved numerous external factors that delayed our response. We apologize for the prolonged silence and assure you that it was necessary to ensure a thorough and secure resolution.

Reimbursement Using DAO Funds

The nature of the bridge hack meant that existing supply on Ethereum is required to reimburse our community, thus we have had no choice but to use DAO funds to reimburse those who lost paint due to the bridging vulnerability. This is an exceptional situation because usually we would raise a DAO proposal and vote to pass it, however a standard proposal would not be able to be voted on by those who lost funds due to the hack affecting the Paint token supply and in turn affecting voting power. Our community’s trust and support are paramount, and we believe that this step is essential in ensuring that our community members can reclaim their tokens and participate in MurAll’s vibrant ecosystem once again.

The MurAll team, like many of you, was also affected by the hack. We will be reimbursing the team to ensure that we can continue our work without financial strain. Importantly, if and when we recover the funds lost to the hack, we commit to burning any returned Paint, reinforcing our dedication to the project’s integrity and value.

Despite the hack, our commitment to developing and enhancing the MurAll platform remains steadfast. We are continuing with our planned developments and introducing new measures to fortify our ecosystem.

MurAll Paint Token Claim and Soulbound NFT Minting Now Available

We are excited to announce that the Polygon Paint token claim process is now live through our official claiming portal:

Claim Your Paint Tokens and Mint a Soulbound NFT

If you were holding Paint tokens on Polygon at the time of the hack, you are eligible to claim your migrated tokens. Additionally, as part of the claim process, you will have the opportunity to mint a soulbound NFT with a personalized message. This NFT will be sent to the hacker’s address, serving as a permanent reminder of MurAll’s resilience.

On-Chain SVG Artwork

Our community takes pride in our commitment to on-chain art, and these soulbound NFTs are no exception. Each NFT features on-chain SVG artwork, ensuring that the art is permanently stored and accessible on the blockchain. This adds an extra layer of resilience and permanence to your message, symbolizing our community’s enduring spirit.

Steps to Claim and Mint:

  1. Connect Your Wallet: Ensure your wallet is connected to the MurAll platform.
  2. Check for Claim: Enter your wallet address to see if you have a claim available.
  3. Enter Your Message: Write a message that will be sent to the hackers. This message will be permanently embedded in the NFT.
  4. Claim Your Tokens and Mint the NFT: Follow the on-screen instructions to reclaim your Paint tokens and mint your soulbound NFT in a single transaction.

This process is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly, ensuring that you can quickly and easily recover your tokens while sending a strong message to the hackers. You can also claim for your tokens from other wallets (NOTE: the tokens will be sent to the wallet of the eligible claim, not the wallet processing the transaction).

You have 120 days from the contract deployment date to claim your tokens, so there is no rush. Take your time to craft a meaningful message to include in your soulbound NFT.

Show Your Support for MurAll through On-Chain Art

Even if you do not have Paint tokens to claim, you can still participate by minting a soulbound NFT with a personalized message. These NFTs are non-transferable and will remain permanently linked to the hacker’s address.

How to Mint Your Soulbound NFT:

  1. Connect Your Wallet: Ensure your wallet is connected to the MurAll platform.
  2. Check for Claim: Enter your wallet address to see if you have a claim available or not.
  3. Enter Your Message: Write a message that will be sent to the hackers. This message will be permanently embedded in the NFT.
  4. Mint the NFT: Follow the on-screen instructions to mint your soulbound NFT.

Your message will be sent to the hacker’s address, where it will remain forever as a testament to MurAll’s resilience and the community’s unwavering spirit.

Why This Matters

The introduction of soulbound NFTs serves multiple purposes:

  • Shaming the Hackers: Each NFT serves as a public shaming of the hackers, a constant reminder of their actions.
  • Community Resilience: This initiative demonstrates MurAll’s ability to bounce back from adversity, showcasing our strength and unity.
  • Artistic Expression: It provides an outlet for the community to express their feelings through art, staying true to MurAll’s core mission.
  • On-Chain Art: By incorporating on-chain SVG artwork, we ensure the permanence and immutability of the NFTs, reflecting our commitment to true decentralized art.

At MurAll, we believe that art and community go hand-in-hand. Despite the challenges posed by the hack, we remain committed to our mission and to our community. By participating in the Paint token claim or minting a soulbound NFT, you are helping us turn a negative event into a powerful statement of resilience and creativity.

The future of Di2rupt and Evolv3

To ensure the security and functionality of the Di2rupt wall, we will be forking its state. This means that all existing NFTs will continue to work as they are, while a new contract will be deployed to mitigate any vulnerabilities.

For our Evolv3 wall, we will redeploy it to enhance security. We will recreate previous states and airdrop the associated NFTs to the original artists, ensuring that your valuable contributions remain preserved and secure.

These changes will be coming in the following weeks; stay tuned for announcements when they are ready.

Moving Forward

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that Chroma will be the next major project we undertake. We are committed to giving back to the community that has stood by us during these difficult times. Chroma will represent the next evolution in our journey, and we are confident it will bring even more opportunities for creativity and expression within the MurAll ecosystem.

We understand that the hack has shaken the community and disrupted our progress. However, we want to assure you that we are more determined than ever to continue building and enhancing MurAll. Our vision of a censorship-resistant, truly free artistic platform remains unchanged, and we will keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the blockchain art space.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Together, we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger, continuing to revolutionize artistic expression on the blockchain.

See the Evolution, Be the Revolution.
